Nonprofit Spotlight: LGBT Life Center Responds to Pandemic with Community Foundation Support
Born more than three decades ago out of the HIV crisis, LGBT Life Center found itself adapting this year to help people through another pandemic.
In the time of COVID-19, the organization has had to amp up its emergency services. Two grants from Hampton Roads Community Foundation enabled the Center to feed hungry clients and serve more people needing mental health support.
“If you don’t have enough food, that is your main priority, it’s not taking the medicines,” says Client Services Manager Doris McNeill.
I had the privilege of interviewing McNeill and others who do such outstanding work for LGBT Life Center and writing a story for the fall/winter 2020 issue of the Foundation’s Good Tidings newsletter. You can read it on the Foundation’s website.
